About the Proprietor

Rachel Jeffers, Proprietor

Rachel Lynn LaFave was born July 10th, 1977 to Timothy and Kathryn LaFave. She was raised in New York, where she currently resides. She is the eldest of three children. She graduated from Siena College in 1999 with a B.A. in Secondary English Education.

She married Steven Jeffers, of Ballston Spa, N.Y. in October of 2002. A son, Theoden Jefffers, was born in March of 2004, and a daughter, Guinevere Katharine Blythe Jeffers, was born in August of 2007.

Rachel and family attend Free Spirit Fellowship Church, of Ballston Spa, where her father and mother continue to minister, since her father’s ordination in 1981.

Rachel’s passions are God and her family. Her ‘gift’, she believes, is creative writing. Her hobbies are decorating, crafting, shopping, photography and hosting Tea parties for friends. Other special interests include nature outings, bonfires, anything associated with Autumn, road trips, sewing, singing, styling hair, arranging unique clothing ensembles, arranging flowers,  re-living the Victorian Era, enjoying Jane Austen, appreciating early Colonial America, and studying Early American Literature, (her true ‘major’ in College!)

At the age of thirty-one, Rachel became inspired to set up this Window Shoppe in her home, as a unique way to give gifts while hosting friends for Tea. She doesn’t know where this road will lead, and has no ambitions of her Shoppe becoming a business of any kind, but she is excited for the opportunity and perspective that her new ‘thirty-something’ age is affording her!

For the first time in years, Rachel doesn’t have what many would call a ‘real job.’ Instead, she finds herself blessed with a ‘calling.’ She is at home raising her children, and she is grateful for this opportunity. She is finding herself as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and woman. “My journey is ever-changing,” she says. “I know one day I’ll be working outside of the home again, but what I’ll be doing will be a surprise! Right now, this is where I’m meant to be.”

~~~ by Lucinda Caroline Wordsworth (a pen name for guess who?)
“If I could have poked my head into Heaven and peeped in the windows of God’s Emporium, I couldn’t have chosen for myself better gifts. He blessed me with a wonderful and supportive husband, two beautiful children, gracious and loving parents, and a faithful mother-in-law. He filled my heart with His spirit, and gave me joy. ‘I praise Him because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.’ And my life is a testimony to His goodness.”
Rachel Lynn Jeffers.
    Rachel — When I was a child, I lived across the street from Kay and Carolyn Countaway. I think that their parents names were Bill and Betty Lou. Could you please ask your Mom if she ever lived on Ridge Road in Ravena? I know she will remember me.
    Carolyn was best friends with my brother, Richie when they were in kindergarten.
    I don’t remember Kay’s name being Kathryn, which is why I am not sure that I have the same family. I called her Kay.
    Congratulations on a beautiful business. And thanks in advance for asking your Mom about Ravena.
